Immediate Services

If someone has been raped or sexually assaulted we offer the following services:
  • Forensic medical examination by a specialist female nurse. This examination will be carried out as sympathetically as possible, and can be undertaken whether the police are involved or not.
  • Emergency Contraception and a referral to sexual health services.
  • Emotional Support will be available from a dedicated Crisis Support Worker when you attend the centre.
  • Risk assessment of any potential future harm will be undertaken by either the Support Worker or the SOLO officer, if in attendance. If necessary, a safety plan will be discussed in order to prevent ongoing danger. Staff at the Saturn Centre understand that many offences are committed by someone known to the man or woman assaulted.

If you have been raped or sexually assaulted within the last 14 days and require immediate healthcare advice or support without direct police involvement please call us on 01277 240620

If you have made the decision to self refer to Oakwood Place without having contacted the police first, the Medical Examiner will be the person to take the forensic samples, aided by the Support Worker. This will only be done with your permission. These samples can be stored to give you the opportunity to spend some time considering if you would like to go ahead with a police investigation.
